Flashcards are most efficient when they are made for individual needs: some learners want to learn with whole sentences, others want to include pronunciation, others want flashcards from language X to language Y ; others want to train very specific topics, etc. Tutors will never ever be able to create flashcard sets for everyone; there are just too many possibilities. The only solution is probably to let all students create (and share) their own flashcard sets; if some of these sets are also useful for other students: even better!
