Idea: Remove actual message from emails

I think it’d be a great idea to not display the actual message in email notifications but just say ‘you have a message’ and a link to login and view it. A. it’ll stop people replying to the email by mistake and B. it gets people logging in to eduFire which may encourage those who seldom visit to do so.

I agree...I'm always logged in as much as I can...but whenever I have a message I run to check it out...I ingore it in the e-mail...it's more fun that way!!! And it's true about encouraging people to get logged in more often!!! Sue

ok Marco, you make some good points so I'm giving it 4.17 stars.

Man, I was hoping for 4.18!

Ha! This is funny as it used to be how we did things. However we felt it would be more user-friendly to allow people to read their messages regardless of whether they could get access to the site or not. We'll let this one run for a bit, I want to see

Hmmm. Not sure. As a user I much prefer the message in the email, but if you want to get people to the site, it is a really good idea.

I do too Liz! :) Though the issue is some people hit reply to the notification email (happened again over the weekend) instead of replying using the link so until it gets forwarded, the recipient never gets to see the message. Perhaps the "do not reply to this email" should be under the actual message in the notification?

Hey Marco, That's a good idea -- moving the "do not reply". What I just did was copy it to just after the message itself as well as at the top. We'll see how that works. Thanks! Note: Will go up later today or tomorrow.
