Tutor
My name is Sean, and I would love to be your Spanish, English, ACT Prep, or general life tutor.
Spanish
I love the language; secretly, I would like to forget how to speak English and spend the rest of my life speaking the language of Spain, South and Central Americas. I’m studying to be a Spanish teacher at the high school level, and already have experience in the Spanish classroom. Why spend time waiting for your tutor to figure out how to tutor? With me, we will work out learning at your YOUR pace, not the pace that best fits me. I’m flexible, like the language, and I don’t see any other way to tutor. I can help you with your current studies in another environment, like college or community classes, or I can directly be your teacher and you and I may one-on-one tackle Spanish. We’ll work out your learning style. No one should ever shy away from learning a language because it appears too hard. If they have, then they have yet to discover that unique learning style that helps unlock the secret of learning language. With me, we will work to figure out how Spanish and your brain come together. Every person is unique and I’m excited to help crack the Spanish puzzle with you; We’ll make a great team!
I love the study of grammar. For some reason, my mind works scientifically and I find the study of grammar to not only be fun, but a systematic way to improve my ability to learn and teach language. If you would like a session with me, we can cater our time to your needs. If you’re a tutor, we can examine what strategies work and don’t work, with regards to “prescriptive grammar,” properly advising students on their grammar. As a student of languages, knowing the framework of language can be an extremely beneficial element of your learning experience. I find that it’s most successful with students going on to their third language. We can work to tie together what you’ve already learned to make your third language easier. Or, if you’re an English speaker who wants to be more aware of his own language, we can do some activities to get you conscious of the English language machine.
I try hard to separate myself from Math, but somehow, having studied math up to Calculus 2, it keeps reappearing in my life. I originally was going to do my student teaching with a minor in mathematics, but because I don’t agree with government standards of Math instruction, I chose other topics. Still, I’ve done a lot of math tutoring, and can help you in all parts of Math. My favorites are trigonometry and algebra.
I got a 23 when I was 12-years-old, and I got a 33 when I was 16-years-old. I’m very familiar with the test structure and I know how to get you going on all of the sections. I specialize in the math and science portions, in which I ultimately got a 35.
-Always have Skype prepared as a backup plan!
-I hate wasting your time, so be ready to get going as soon as we start!
-We have to laugh. A lot.
You are intelligent. Just because you can’t remember the irregular participle of a verb doesn’t mean you’re not smart. It means it’s an irregular participle.
Oh, and my youtube video got cut off by 30 seconds. Thanks, youtube!
