Yes, my shirt says, “Estar Guars”….Hello, I am a native English speaker hailing from Córdoba, Argentina. I have traveled extensively through Latin America and have picked up fluency in Brazilian Portuguese and Argentine (Rio Plata) Spanish. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, which makes Texan a fourth language that I speak fluently.I learned languages by forcing myself into situations in which English was not an option for periods of time of up to 2 1/2 years. I later studied Portuguese and Spanish literature in college.Because I currently live in Argentina, many of my lessons can and will include small practice sessions with NATIVE speakers that DO NOT speak English, as I am a firm believe of being “forced” to speak the new language. I truly believe real immersion brings a certain dynamic to your learning curve.I have taught Portuguese and Spanish and world-renowned language schools – from beginning to advanced. I have also served as a live translator for both languages in large group seminar settings. Although I am a lifetime student of new languages and still learning, I can really help you with your goals in learning a new language.Professionally, I am a Flash Programmer (for example the technology used to integrate the webcams on this site) and Graphic Designer, after obtaining a degree in Advertising Design. I am available to teach languages on the side as a hobby. I also have lived in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, where I spent a lot of time spinning (DJing) house music on the strip.I bring a positive attitude and jovial spirit to lessons. Having an enjoyable experience with me will be imperative. I’ll warn you in advance that you’ll probably laugh a lot with me and unknowingly vastly enhance and hone your skills of inside jokes and dry humor.Let me know what you would like to learn, and we can work together!I’m also interested in learning French, Italian, and Russian.**as a note, I am currently in Dallas visiting family.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Communications with a minor in Graphic Design – Brigham Young University.
I was also 4 credit hours shy of also completing minors in Portuguese, Spanish, and Latin American Studies. Who needs 4 minors, right?
Spanish and Portuguese training coordinator at LDS Missionary Training Center (3 years). I supervised and aided in helping new teachers teach Portuguese and Spanish, while also teaching native Spanish teachers the basics of English.
