I am an American (orig from NJ, but lived in Alaska the last 13 years). I am presently living in the Netherlands (Noord Brabant) with the love of my life! We met on the internet, and things are great!
I am interested in learning more Dutch. My sweety is teaching me, but A. He’s not a teacher, B. He works 10 hours a day – and will be adding 9 more hours a week soon, and C. I need things to do during the day! LOL
I have found that I know more words/phrases than I thought I did, thru the flashcards, but pronunciation is my biggest issue. I certainly lack confidence when it comes to speaking the language. I’m pretty good at reading and writing… just have to learn to get my tongue around the letters!
I took Spanish and German in HS (many moons ago) and have found that it actually HURTS my learning Dutch. I keep trying to pronounce things like Spanish… lol
