I am glad you asked. Please keep reading.
The Truth of Spiritual Coaching
I define Spiritual Coaching as a one-on-one process of guidance that gives you the opportunity to explore your unique spirituality, your life’s values, vision, intentions, and purpose. The result is a deep understanding of how to live your life in alignment with your highest spiritual aspirations.
A Spiritual Coaching session facilitates the re-discovery of the life you truly desire to live. Exploring your personal values, your sense of morality, your core beliefs about life, and your relationship to yourself, to others, and, above all, to your creative and Universal Source, fosters a deeper understanding of your Divine Nature. When I speak of “living a spiritual life,” I mean being constantly aware of our essential spiritual nature (we are more than our physical bodies) and paying close attention to what nurtures our relationship with our spiritual self or the Universal Source.
Often “spiritual” and “religious” are thought of as the same thing. I am often told, “I am not religious but I am spiritual.” We must then have a basic definition of both spirituality and religion. In my world, Spirituality is an inner sense of something greater than ourselves and the personal practices I use to connect with that greater something. Religion is the organization that professes specific rules, rituals, ceremonies, and dogma. Religious organizations use scriptures based on a holy books and writings that are passed down from spiritual teachers. Spiritual coaching is non-religious; I do not promote a specific religious point of view — nor do I discourage religious affiliations, membership or practices.
“Coaching,” as the name implies, is to train intensively. We are training our inner guidance. I do not give advice for I know the answers you seek already exist within your heart and mind. My work is simply to encourage you as you look inside and find the answers you seek. My intention is to provide a safe space and guide you through various experiences of trusting and listening to yourself as you navigate the opportunities and experiences of the life you truly desire. Spiritual Coaching may sound like some “NEW AGE or WOO-WOO” concept but the truth is that providing counsel, mentoring, and coaching are historical forms of sharing wisdom and calling others to their greatness. Spiritual coaching is in no way traditional psychotherapy, which concentrates mainly on your mental and emotional state of being.
