Tutor
I am a senior at Oakland University and major in Japanese Language and Literature. I am a certified Michigan CRLA Tutor Association Level 1 Tutor, and am CELT/TESL certified as well. I have studied Japanese since 2005, and completed my student teaching for CELT/TESL in June 2009.
I am now currently working with Project Upward Bound as the English Tutor. Project Upward Bound is a program that identifies “At-Risk” students within the Detroit Public Schools system that have potential to go somewhere in life. We then take the student in and provide them with a network of support that they otherwise would not have in an effort to prepare them for college. I strongly believe that given the right support and opportunity, anyone can excel in life!
I recently completed the Student Teaching to students of ESL in June 2009. I greatly enjoyed the class, and am sad that it had to end! I taught Advanced English as a Second Language to Latino students from my area for 2 months. I kind of still wish I could be teaching there but eh C’est la vie.
As for my teaching style, I like to talk to the student beforehand to see what level they are at and where they can improve. I cater to the student’’s level on an individual basis and work with them to strengthen pre-existing skills while helping them develop new ones. Let’s work on it together!

I am Japanese and I assure, her pronunciation is perfect.
She cares for her students, she has the deep Japanese grammar/structural knowledge and has experienced and knows a lot of commonly used phrases.
Yeah she is one great Japanese teacher ever.
Her class is awesomely friendly and welcomes everybody who studies Japanese.
Don’t miss it!
Diana's Japanese is very good and she teaches in an easy to understand manner. She gave everyone an opportunity to practice prononciation (if you wanted too) while giving helpful feedback on how to improve. Diana's class was fun (and truly a must for anyone working on speaking in Japanese) because she is cheerful and very friendly. Thanks, Diana. I'll see you next class!
