Born and raised in beautiful downtown Barcelona (Spain), I have been living and studying in Portland, OR (US) since September 2006.Being a learner (I learned English and French, and I am currently in my second year of Turkish) can be indeed really helpful when it comes to teaching. Because I am myself in the process of learning, I can understand better what my students are going through, and help them in a more effective way. I have had between 15 and 20 students for the last 2 years here in Portland, but I am currently tutoring 8 people (from a nurse that spent 2 years in Spain and wanted to improve her conversational skills, to a girl in high school).I would dare to say that I am pretty knowledgeable in terms of Spanish grammar, syntax, and lexicon. I work on conversational skills, spelling, vocabulary, and building confidence with my students… or any specific issue they feel they want to work on. I am a dynamic person, easy to get along with, and always positive when it comes to learning issues. At the same time, I am serious, responsible and hardworking, and I like it when my students are motivated because that spirit encourages motivation on me as well! :)I’m loving Edufire so far!Rachel
Honored student regarding my Spanish and Catalan grades (my two native languages). In my teen years, I was awarded in several literary contests as well (“Jocs Florals de Barcelona” and “Concurso Literario de la Eixample”), with short stories written in my two native languages. All of those short stories were published.
Successfully completed 1st year of English Translation and Interpreting in Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain).

Worked for SITEL (an international marketing company) in Barcelona as a manager and supervisor assistant. Tasks: translation documents from English to Spanish, and vice versa, for a Philips campaign.

Currently enrolled at Portland Community College, taking courses in the Paralegal Program. Graduation? Spring term 2009!

Currently enrolled at Portland State University, taking 2nd year Turkish. “Merhaba, nasılsınız?”
