I AM BACK ON EDUFIRE!!!!!
I am an Internationally published author – German, French, English, Norwegian – of over 10 books. I write in English, my main genres being historical fiction and fact/fiction.
My writing credits also include anthologised short stories, photographically illustrated magazine features plus a co-authored memoir. My first ever published work was ‘A Ballet Lesson’, an illustrated book on ballet technique for children.
In 1998 I was President of Romance Writers of Australia.
No matter the genre of a novel – romance, suspense, mystery, fantasy, etc. – the core elements of novel construction and quality writing remain constant.
Every novel requires a good plot, engaging characters and believable dialogue, to name just 3 elements. There are many other aspects of the writer’s craft that are essential to writing that page-turning novel.
I am here because I love writing and love teaching. I am a skilled communicator with considerable tutoring experience. I am happy to guide students in whatever aspect of the writing craft they wish to study.
When you request a session, simply state what aspect of writing you wish to study. I can give you a critique of your writing if that is what you want.
My fact/fiction historical novels are on the reading list for english students at Griffith University in Brisbane. My home town is Brisbane, Australia.

Merice is a professional at what she does. She stays true to the task of tutoring and mentoring the craft of writing. In the many hours I have spent in her company, she has never tried to divert me to her website or tried to sell me anything--this speaks of her integrity as a professional and her genuine interest in helping fellow writers. She states her credentials clearly on her page, and doesn't waste my time re-stating them during a presentation. For each presentation, she is on-time, prepared and interesting. It doesn't take long to realize just how knowledgeable she is about writing, and she generously shares her wisdom.
Her classes are fun and informative. She has a warm sense of humor and appreciation for other points-of-view. I have taken five classes so far, and I will be taking more in the future.
I highly, highly recommend this tutor to anyone.
I have taken five of Merice’s classes, and I plan on taking more. She is very knowledgeable in her craft as a writer, and is very generous in sharing that knowledge. She’s always well-prepared and professional. Merice is personable and interested in her students as fellow writers. I find her warmth and sense of humor to be very appealing.
Merice is a wonderful teacher. I enjoy all of her classes. The classes are comfortable and informative. Class participation is encouraged. I've already learned so much from Merice about what it takes to be a writer. I highly recommend her classes for anyone who has an interest in becoming a published writer. Merice's classes are also wonderful for those who like to write for fun or, even just thinking about writing. You rock, Merice!
